Liverpool’s long-term target heading into this summer’s transfer window has been the Lille midfield star Renato Sanches and on the back of the player’s superb form at the Euros, he has other clubs entering the race for his signature.
Reports from The Daily Mail claim that Catalan giants FC Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the Portugal international who impressed for his nation at the UEFA European Championships despite Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. bowing out in the Last-16 with a defeat to Belgium.
Liverpool’s interest in Sanches had been well documented as of late in light of Jurgen Klopp scouting the transfer market for a fresh midfield face following the departure of Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the next season.
Sanches’ run of form for Lille across the 2020-21 domestic campaign was key to Lille’s league title-winning heroics and it is understood that the French outfit will demand a sizable fee to part ways with the former Bayern Munich man should Liverpool and Barcelona come calling on them this summer.
Barcelona’s financial woes of late could prove to be a stumbling block in their pursuit of Sanches which will provide a boost to Klopp’s Liverpool on the transfer front for the young midfield talent.
