Turkish outfit Fenerbahce remain the frontrunners in a five-horse race to land Divock Origi’s signature this summer after is it has come to be believed that the Belgian international would be seeking an exit from Liverpool FC.
First-team involvement coming Origi’s way these last couple of seasons has been sparse, to say the least. The forward has largely fulfilled the role of a super-sup at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal in the Reds shirt, coming off the bench for last-minute winners to much applause from the Anfield stands.
However, the 25-year old striker is aware that he requires a lengthy run of first-team playing opportunities to warrant his spot in Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad for the 2021 UEFA Euros. And such opportunities are not expected to be awarded to Origi whilst the player is still at the home of the Premier League champions.
Origi has time and again asserted that he is indeed happy to extend his stay at the Merseyside despite his limited involvement in Jurgen Klopp’s senior squad setup that has achieved a number of title-winning glory in recent times.
Besides Fenerbahce, a host of English top-flight sides in the form of Brighton, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Fulham, are circling around for signing the ex-Lillie man, but the Turkish side are understood to be in the pole position to make the move for Origi, having already gotten into contact with the player’s agent.
Liverpool FC’s asking price for Origi, that is rumoured to be in the region of £14 million should not trouble Fenerbahce’s go-ahead for the Belgian forward, according to reports.
