Fiorentina’s director has revealed that Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat is not for sale in a blow to Jurgen Klopp’s plans of signing the midfielder.
As Jurgen Klopp seeks reinforcements to bolster his under-fire engine room options, there had been talk doing the rounds that Amrabat was a viable option for the Liverpool head coach to mull over ahead of the upcoming January window.
The Serie A talent had emerged on the transfer radar at Anfield following his stellar run of showings for Morocco at the ongoing World Cup in Qatar which made Liverpool take notice of his ability in the centre of the park.
The Reds had been joined by Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the chase for the 26-year-old Amrabat but both clubs would be forced to look elsewhere for alternatives following the Fiorentina director’s recent remarks.
Pradé, as quoted in a report from The Daily Mirror, has claimed that Fiorentina have the option to extend the player’s deal next year and the midfielder remains key to the club’s plans.
“We want to keep Amrabat here, there’s no plan to sell him. We’ve [got an] option to extend his contract next year, there’s no rush – he’s part of our plans.”
