Former Liverpool FC player commends Jurgen Klopp’s influence on the club’s recent success

Former Liverpool FC striker Stan Collymore has joined the growing number of footballing figures to have heaped praise on the Merseyside club’s recruitment process. The ex-England international attributed the recent success of the Reds’ towards the club’s shrewdness in the transfer market.

Ever since the hiring of Jurgen Klopp as the Liverpool FC boss, the Reds have achieved great success. Champions League glory was brought back to the Merseyside after a 14-year gap last season. However, most importantly, the club ended a 30-year wait for the Premier League title following a 99-point league campaign this season.

Over the course of the season, Jurgen Klopp’ men have also clinched the UEFA Super Cup as well as a very first FIFA Club World Cup for the club. A fantastic style of play has been characterized by the Liverpool FC side in recent seasons. Moreover, several players at the club have blossomed into world-class talents under the man-management style adopted by Jurgen Klopp.

Collymore’s praise was directed towards the number of astute signings made by the Reds in the transfer market. The 49-year old complimented the sharpness of the Merseyside club in bringing certain players to Anfield for bargain deals. Current Liverpool FC stars such as Andy Robertson and Joe Gomez have been bought for a combined fee of less than £10 million.

“Klopp and the Anfield executive team have been 9/10 in terms of their recruitment these past few years – and by that I mean nine signings out of 10 have been bang on.”

Moreover, the former Aston Villa star forward applauded the grit shown by Jurgen Klopp’ side in consecutive seasons. According to Collymore, Klopp trained his players in such a way that following their triumph in last seasons’ Champions League, the Liverpool FC side aimed to ensure a brilliant start to their 2019-20 Premier League season.

The ex-Reds striker, who played 64 games during his time at Anfield, further claimed that Manchester City were no longer any match for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Collymore expressed his admiration at the rich brand of football that has now come to be associated with the Liverpool FC side in recent seasons.

He also expressed hope that Naby Keita’s initial struggles at the club would not hinder his long-term prospects. According to Collymore, Keita has it in himself to become a great player for Liverpool FC in the coming seasons.

“Even those who haven’t quite been on it in the way they’d have hoped, such as Naby Keita, have shown enough promise to suggest they could be big enough players for next season.”

The Guinean international has sparkled of late for the Reds in their league-tittle winning campaign. Keita’s teammate Virgil van Dijk too had lauded the midfielder’s recent run of form for the Merseyside giants.
