Championship outfit Bristol City are rumored to turn their focus towards making an approach for fringe Liverpool FC first-team squad member Nathan Philips.
The defender is an increasing rotation option at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, however, had gained a significant amount of playing time during the Premier League champions pre-season training camp last month. The absence of Joel Matip due to injury had made Philips a fourth-choice option at center-back for the Reds.
And with the Cameroonian set to return soon after three months on the sidelines, the 23-year old Philips may seek an exit from Liverpool FC this summer. Besides Bristol City, a number of other sides across England have registered interest in signing the center-back, with Blackburn Rovers too being in the fray for him.
A regular place in the club’s starting XI will be offered to Philips in order to lure him to the Ashton Gate Stadium, according to reports. Following Nathan Baker’s injury, the Robbins are one man short in their defensive department, an event that has made Philips a likely target for Bristol City.
Jurgen Klopp is understood to be willing to sanction the player’s move away from Anfield. However, at this stage, it is unknown whether the 23-year old defender will be allowed to leave on a permanent basis or on a season-loan.
