Former Aston Villa star striker Gabby Agbonlahor is not convinced by Liverpool attempting to make a swoop for West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen this summer to shore up their frontline options.
Jurgen Klopp has been on the hunt for attacking reinforcements in the transfer window currently underway and Bowen has emerged on the radar for the Merseysiders.
On the back of his influential campaign for The Hammers last time around in which he scored eight times and registered five assists across his Premier League action, Klopp is believed to be keeping close tabs on the 24-year-old West Ham wide player.
Gabby Agbonlahor, however, seems a bit surprised that Liverpool are attempting to bring Bowen to Anfield where the highly-promising forward will be seen competing against the likes of Mohamad Salah and Sadio Mane, both of whom are established names in world football.
According to Agbonlahor in his interview with Football Insider, West Ham United are sure to put a steep asking price for Bowen’s sale which could put Liverpool off considering Jurgen Klopp has a smaller transfer kitty to work with this summer.
“I do like him [Bowen] as a player but that’s a big step up with big expectations.
“That Anfield crowd is a big expectation, fighting with [Mohamed] Salah and [Sadio] Mane for a place would be really hard as well.
“I don’t see that happening, to be honest. West Ham really like him, so they’re going to expect a lot of money for him which Liverpool won’t pay for a player of his talent.
“He’s a great player but I’m not sure he’s got that level for Liverpool.”
