Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville issued a rich tribute to Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold’s creative ability out there on the pitch.
The Reds full-back was at his brilliant best in the 2-2 draw in the English capital on Sunday for Jurgen Klopp’s men with Arnold setting up his fellow full-back Andy Robertson for the second goal.
Liverpool got back in the game after Harry Kane had scored an early opening goal with strikes from Diogo Jota and Robertson but Spurs snatched a late leveller through star forward Son Heung-min.
Played-turned-pundit Garry Neville while speaking to Sky Sports ( via TeamTalk) in the aftermath of the highly-thrilling stalemate was full of praises for the Arnold-Robertson pairing who have been on top form so far in this campaign.
Neville added a rich tribute for Arnold’s creative influence on Liverpool’s style of play with the England defender likened to Premier League star names such as Kevin de Bruyne, David Beckham and Steven Gerrard.
“I don’t think I’ve seen two full-backs play in the Premier League that are as good as these two as a pair.”
“The way in which they combine on the pitch, the way they play the game, they’re an absolute joy.
“Robertson with his consistency does everything well. Defends well, he’s competitive – slightly too much at the end – but he scored a goal and set up a goal.
“Alexander-Arnold is an absolute phenomenon when it comes to the quality of his passing, his delivery. It’s something I’ve never seen before from a full-back.
“It’s like De Bruyne, it’s Beckham, it’s Gerrard, and they’re attacking players. He’s playing at right-back, it’s the highest accolade I could pay him.
“The contribution these two make is unbelievable. It’s bizarre to me. I grew up saying let the full-back have it. You can’t let these two have it.”
