Genk Vs Liverpool Champions League Preview

Premier League leaders Liverpool make the trip to Belgium to face Genk in the Champions League hoping to overcome their problems on the road in Europe.

Despite winning the Champions League title last season, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds lost all three of their group stage away games and even began their title defense this season with a 2-0 defeat against Serie A side Napoli.

Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg almost staged a sensational comeback and nearly caused an upset last time around but the Reds managed to seal a crucial 4-3 victory, courtesy of a well-taken goal from Mohamed Salah to get three points on the board.

Liverpool head into the game against Genk as overwhelming favorites and will look to take a giant step towards qualification towards the next round of the Champions with a victory against the current Belgian champions.

Fortunately for Liverpool, they have no fresh injury concerns and Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah’s fitness is still being monitored. The 27-year-old was subbed off against Leicester City due to an ankle injury and missed the crunch game against Manchester United on Sunday.

Club captain Jordan Henderson did little to justify his selection against Manchester United and could be replaced in the center of the park by either one of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Naby Keita.

Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri has barely featured this season the attacker could make his return after one month on the sidelines due to injury. Aside from right-back Nathaniel Clyne who continues to recover from a long-term knee injury, Klopp has a fully-fit bunch to pick from.

Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Fabinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.
