Liverpool FC ace Gini Wijnaldum admits that lack of cutting edge in the final third has cost his side the chance to pull back their recent run of torrid form.
The Merseysiders were subject to a second defeat in their last three top-flight outings as Jurgen Klopp’s men lost 1-0 to Burnley at Anfield on Thursday night, with Sean Dyche’s Clarets becoming the first visitors on Merseyside since April 2017 to leave with a win in the bag.
Liverpool FC’s fortunes on the attacking half of the pitch have suffered a devastating blow in recent weeks as the Premier League holders have failed to find the back of the net in any of their previous four outings in league football and Wijnaldum urged his team to rediscover their spark when going forward.
“We 100 per cent had chances,” said the Holland international, as quoted by the Express.
“Now in the situation we are in we are struggling to score. It is difficult to explain.
“People from outside will say we don’t have confidence. I still think we do.
“You shoot against the keeper and a lot of chances we get, we are not 100 per cent greedy to score a goal.
“We have to keep on going. We have to not think about a tricky moment but perform.
The star-studded Liverpool FC frontline of Firmino, Mane and Salah have failed to open their account for the new year and the triplet’s downward spiral of form has added to further worries on Jurgen Klopp’s mind as the Reds plummeted to the fourth spot in the Premier League table post the Burnley defeat.
