Gini Wijnaldum is confident of Liverpool FC getting off to a positive start in the upcoming season of Premier League football despite the tough opening fixtures being handed to Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds are scheduled to face Premier League new-boys Leeds United at Anfield in the opening game of the 2020-21 league campaign for the Reds, which will see Klopp’s men defend their Premier League crown that they achieved last season.
Following the meeting against Leeds, the Merseyside giants are due to go up against London clubs Chelsea and Arsenal in their next two fixtures. Both games will prove to be tough for the defending league champions.
A visit to Stamford Bridge for the clash against Frank Lampard’s side will be a much-anticipated encounter between the two Premier League giants. The Blues have been bolstered by the arrivals of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, and are in the market for further transfer business.
However, Wijnaldum is positive that the Reds will secure great results against all three of their opponents. The Dutch international stated that the Anfield outfit needed to be on their best for the upcoming season by training harder.
‘We play Leeds at home first, then Chelsea away and Arsenal at home so tough fixtures!’
‘But we’ll just have to get good results. ‘My first season when I came here it was also a tough start with three away games because the stadium was not ready so this is quite similar.
‘We just have to train good and try to play the games as good as possible and prepare ourselves for the season.’Â
