Gini Wijnaldum pushes Liverpool to continue their recent run of form

Gini Wijnaldum insists Liverpool are pushing to retain their recent run of form as the Dutchman argued that more work was needed to be done following the 3-1 win over West Ham United.

The 29-year-old, whose future at Anfield looks highly uncertain heading into the summer transfer window, was one of the scorers for Jurgen Klopp’s Merseyside men in the London Stadium showdown against the Hammers.

Speaking to the club’s official website in the aftermath of the game, Wijnaldum admitted at being quite pleased with the recent vein of form shown by the Premier League holders, with Sunday’s win taking the Reds to third in the table.

However, the Holland international believes that it was important for the club to not get carried away by the results of late and that the recent confidence boost for the Merseysiders should allow them to maintain their form heading into the upcoming fixture list in Premier League football.

“I don’t want to say we are back because I think you have to show it every game again. That’s what we have to do. We just have to continue to play the way we scored the second goal and try to do it every game. Of course, every game is difficult but when the chance is there to create a chance like this we should do it.”

“Well, like I said in my previous answer, I don’t want to say we are back but I think we have to show it in every single game and that’s what we just have to do. I think it’s a really bad thing to think that we are back because every game is another situation, another game and another opponent. We have to do it again. I think we look at it that way and just try to play the games with confidence.”
