Liverpool FC’s misfiring attacking combine of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohammad Salah were lambasted by Merseyside icon Graeme Souness in the aftermath of the goalless draw at Anfield on Sunday.
Firmino missed a couple of sitters in front of the goal when facing Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s side over the weekend and the Brazillian international’s uninspiring run of form going forward was evident in the lacklustre display from the once-brilliant frontline employed by Jurgen Klopp.
Salah, who leads the goalscoring charts this season in English top-flight football, also endured a rather shallow evening at Anfield and was largely kept in check by Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw over the course of the 90 minutes in the summit clash.
Souness was quite critical in his assessment on his former side’s dip in recent form as the Liverpool FC great said, according to reports from the Daily Mail, that neither of the three Reds star attackers enjoyed any sparling moments during the Anfield showdown and failed to demand the very best out of the visitor’s backline.
‘Looking at Liverpool as a Liverpool supporter as to where they’ve been (going wrong), it’s the front three. There’s no sparkle, no special moments for them.
‘Firmino didn’t take part in the game a lot. Salah didn’t slip past Shaw once which was the best I’ve seen anyone handle Salah.
‘De Gea didn’t have many saves. Liverpool huffed and puffed but there was nothing special. Nobody committing defenders, that didn’t happen today. Salah had a very quiet game.’
