Guardiola Admits Liverpool Cannot Be Caught

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has conceded the Premier League title to “unstoppable” Liverpool after 10-man Manchester City slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday.

The Premier League champions now trail the all-conquering Reds by 22 points after goals from Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min sealed victory for the North London side and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pretty much handing the title to Liverpool.

German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan had seen a first-half penalty saved by Hugo Lloris and left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko was sent off before Bergwijn’s stunning debut volley goal against Guardiola’s side

The Spanish manager now sees no hope of his side retaining their crown as champions of England with only 13 top-flight games remaining, and his focus falling on the Champions League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.

The 49-year-old manager kept his players in the dressing room for around 50 minutes after their loss in the English capital and explained that Liverpool is all set to become champions of England and are unstoppable as his ambition and focus will turn towards the other competitions, “They are far away so they are unstoppable. They have a lot of points, we have dropped points quite similar to today. Our targets are to win the remaining competitions and qualify for the Champions League next season.”

Liverpool has had an astonishing season and are still unbeaten in the top flight of English football. The Merseyside giants are on course to end their 30-year wait for a Premier League title.
