Liverpool FC’s teenage sensation Harvey Elliot has signed his first professional contract with the Reds. The winger was offered a senior deal by the newly crowned Premier League champions after turning 17 on 4th April, 2020. Recent rumors had suggested that Jurgen Klopp was ready to offer a long-term contract to the English attacker.
Elliot joined the Reds last summer following prolonged negotiations with Fulham FC. At that time, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were rumored to be interested in signing the young winger. However, Elliot had conveyed his decision of signing for Liverpool FC to the Fulham management.
The 17-year old had become the youngest player to feature in a Premier League game during his Fulham days when he took the pitch at the age of 16 years and 30 days. Elliot made just two league appearances for Fulham during his time at Craven Cottage.
The 17-year old English started voiced his delight at signing his first professional contract with Liverpool FC, a team whom he has supported throughout his life. Elliot stated that it had been an incredible journey so far since he had joined the Reds last summer.
The player also expressed hope for his future at Liverpool FC, adding that he would aim to give his best for the Merseyside club and its fans. Elliot described the feeling of walking out on Anfield for the first time as an emotional moment for himself.
The 17-year old attacker has become an important player for the future of the Reds in Jurgen Klopp’s eyes. The Liverpool FC manager has given first-team opportunities to Elliot to integrate him into the senior squad more smoothly.
The England U-17 international has been given some minutes in the Premier League of late, with Klopp choosing to bring on Elliot in the final minutes of games. The German coach had confirmed recently that Elliot, along with other youngsters Curtis Jones and Neco Williams will be awarded Premier League winners medals.
Elliot’s new deal comes just days after Cutis Jones too signed on a long-term contract extension with the Reds. Both players are considered crucial towards the future of Liverpool FC by fans and football pundits alike.
