Liverpool have Hoffenheim star midfielder Christoph Baumgartner on their radar, claim reports from the Liverpool Echo, with Jurgen Klopp keeping tabs on the player who is competing with the Austrian national team in the UEFA Euros.
The Reds have been linked with a number of midfield options in world football as Klopp seeks a replacement from the transfer market for Gini Wijnaldum who has now made the move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Baumgartner has an attacking edge to his midfield play
The 21-year-old Bundesliga talent harbours the ability to play further forward on the pitch as a playmaking option which makes him a major name to eye up for a summer swoop this time around.
Liverpool are resigned to lose Xherdan Shaqiri this summer and Klopp could do well by bringing in a quality talent to fill the void left by the skilful Swiss international.
The Austrian had courted interest from Manchester United earlier this year
Liverpool are not the only Premier League outfit to have made their interest known in signing Baumgartner with Manchester United too having enquired about the player back in January.
It remains to be seen whether Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s side will once again join the fray for their long-term target and compete alongside Liverpool for his signature post the UEFA European Championships.
