Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate was reported missing from training ahead of Sunday’s high-billed clash against Manchester City at Anfield.
The Frenchman could be in line to sit out the weekend clash at home which would add to the woes for the Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp who is already without his key defensive names.
Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold are sidelined for the league meeting with the defending champions Manchester City and joining the duo could be Konate following his absence from Friday’s training session at Kirkby, according to the Daily Express.
Konate was substituted with 10 minutes left to play during Liverpool’s 7-1 demolition of Rangers at Ibrox on Wednesday night which could have been a sign that the young defender was nursing an injury and Klopp took a precautionary measure.
Should the former Leipzig man not make the Liverpool XI on Sunday, we could see Joe Gomez being utlised in the centre-back role with the likely option in James Milner filling in at right-back.
