Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani is rumoured to be keen to table a bid for Liverpool with the club put for sale by their current owners Fenway Sports Group.
The 65-year-old Ambani, with a net worth of an eye-watering £90 billion, was credited with an interest in taking over at Anfield back in 2010 and he could be in line to revive his interest in the Premier League giants.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Ambani has emerged as one of the front runners to buy the Merseyside Reds days after the Fenway Sports Group put out a statement sounding out their decision to intention to look for outside investors.
FSG are said to be looking to pocket a sum in the region of £4 billion to sell Liverpool which they purchased for £300 million back in October 2010 and Ambani could be set to make a formal approach for the takeover process.
The other big-name suitors for the Liverpool ownership include the likes of the former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and parties from the Middle East which include the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour, Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan.
