Jadon Sancho or Kylian Mbappe potential replacements for Salah at Liverpool, says Danny Murphy

Liverpool old boy Danny Murphy has called upon the Anfield giants to target either Jadon Sancho or Kylian Mbappe as prospective replacements for Mohammad Salah should the latter choose to exit the Merseyside outfit next summer.

Salah’s long-term future in the Liverpool FC colours has been subject to a great deal of uncertainty in recent weeks owing to rumours of him being disappointed with the club’s hierarchy over certain decisions, particularly that of giving the captain’s armband to Trent Alexander-Arnold in Jordan Henderson’s absence for the UCL tie against Midtjylland.

As Real Madrid and FC Barcelona lead the line for potential destinations Salah can land at in the summer of 2021, Murphy reckons Jurgen Klopp’s side should seek to add urgent attacking reinforcements in the wake of their Egyptian star forward ending his stay at Anfield, with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho and long-term target Kylian Mbappe talked up as ideal additions by the ex-Liverpool midfielder.

‘If you are going to lose someone like Salah or [Sadio] Mane, it’s about having a plan in place about what you are going to do to replace the numbers.

‘Liverpool’s team is heavily reliant on the front three so you can’t take a risk. You have to bring in a superstar,’ said Murphy, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

‘I don’t think there are too many out there that you put above Salah in terms of numbers and ability to win matches and score goals. Maybe a Sancho or Mbappe?

Sancho’s future in the Dortmund shirt remains uncertain itself as the Englishman’s much-anticipated move to Manchester United last summer fell through due to pricing concerns, and recent speculation suggests that Liverpool FC could be joined by Chelsea in the race to sign the former Manchester City starlet.
