Jamie Carragher isn’t giving up on Liverpool winning the title

Liverpool are still in a ‘fantastic position,’ according to Jamie Carragher, to become the first English team to achieve an extraordinary quadruple.

After beating Aston Villa last night, the Reds are currently equal on points with City at the top of the Premier League, with City hosting Wolves at Molineux tonight.

Liverpool had to work hard after falling down in the third minute on Tuesday night, but they swiftly recovered via Joel Matip before Sadio Mane’s header put the Reds ahead in the second half at Villa Park.

After beating Aston Villa on Tuesday night, Sky Sports commentator Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool are still in a great condition to win the quadruple.

The Reds now face Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday, two weeks before facing Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris.

And Carragher believes the fixture list will play a role in determining the domestic crown, with City facing Wolves and West Ham at home before returning to Premier League action.

Carragher was included in the scousers glory days back in his time at Liverpool and believes the defending Premier League winners will have the pressure on themselves.

“[Liverpool] are in a great position. Obviously City are in pole position, but the fact that Liverpool can now sit back in terms of the league games and just watch how City do for the next two games, I think in some ways that could determine how Jurgen Klopp goes next week at Southampton away.

“I think if Manchester City win their next two games they have one hand on the title, and I think Liverpool have then got to start thinking about the Champions League final and making sure players don’t get injured. I think right now, there is jeopardy in those two away games for City and that they could drop points. I think there could be a draw in one of those two away games.”

Pep Guardiola, Man City manager will be competing with Bruno Lage’s men tonight with a game in hand, and with City’s key members in the backline out for the season, the Reds fans came to keep the faith of having their 20th league trophy at Anfield.

Claimed by the Reds as the best Liverpool side in their entire history following their proven track record of making the impossible possible, the Merseyside belief of achieving the ‘quadruple’ will remain until the last second.
