Jamie Carragher lambasts his former side Liverpool post their defeat to Fulham

The misfiring Reds were labelled as ‘mentality midgets’ by Anfield icon Jamie Carragher in the aftermath of yet another defeat in top-flight football for Jurgen Klopp’s outfit, this time against relegation-threatened Fulham on Sunday afternoon at Anfield.

Klopp’s men delivered a hapless showing in the weekend clash at home and a sixth straight defeat on their own patch has left the Merseysiders reeling in a host of trouble, with top-four ambitions being dealt major blows after each passing game.

Despite ringing in as many as seven changes from the XI that came out second best to Chelsea earlier last week, Jurgen Klopp was unable to witness a confident display from his players and a first-half strike from Mario Lemina earned Fulham a hard-earned win.

Sky Sports pundit Carragher was quick to issue scathing criticism for his old club as the ex-Red pointed out that the once ‘ mentality monsters’ had now being relegated to the status of ‘ mentality midgets’ after recent performances have shown the Anfield outfit to be lacking in quality and intensity whilst on the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp previously called this team “mentality monsters” and that was absolutely right at the time,’ he told Sky Sports.

‘But right now they are like “mentality midgets”. This team is just not dealing well with adversity at any point in the last four months.

‘And that’s just not acceptable at Liverpool.’
