Anfield great Jamie Carragher insists Liverpool’s recent run of form makes them the new favourites to clinch Premier League glory this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders picked up another win in league action courtesy of a 2-0 result away at Arsenal on Wednesday night to move just a point adrift of Manchester City at the summit of the table.
Speaking to Sky Sports, played-turned-pundit Carragher backed his former club to dethrone the defending champions of the land Manchester City who dropped points in a nil-nil affair against Crystal Palace earlier in the week.
‘I think everyone connected with Liverpool Football Club will believe they will go on and win the title.
‘It’s the first time I’ve ever thought that throughout the season. I’ve always thought that Man City would. There’s still a point in it. But I think the momentum Liverpool have, the game they have coming up next, they could go top of the league.
‘You can see the reaction from the supporters and the players now. Man City are still in great form, they’re just dropping points a little bit.
‘You can imagine what Anfield is going to be like. As I said, I think everyone in that away end believes Liverpool are going to win the league.’
Liverpool have been upbeat on all fronts of late with the midweek win over Arsenal proving to be a shot in the arm for the Reds who look to clinch top flight glory once again under Jurgen Klopp’s charge.
The first and second in the league standings square up against each other come April 10 in what would be a high-billed outing with the winner likely to go all the way for the crown.
