Former Liverpool FC captain Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on current Reds skipper Jordan Henderson for his leadership qualities. The English international has been labeled by Redknapp as the perfect heir to Steven Gerrard’s legacy at Liverpool FC.
After making the move to Anfield from Sunderland, Henderson endured a couple of difficult initial seasons for the Reds. The midfielder was nearly sold to Fulham FC after failing to impress the Liverpool FC management with his performances. However, Henderson decided to stay at Anfield and compete for a place in the starting lineup.
The Reds management decided on naming Henderson as the Liverpool FC captain following the departure of Steven Gerrard in 2015. Upon taking the armband from Gerrard, a huge onus fell upon Henderson’s shoulders. He was replacing the player who had been one of the most iconic footballers to play for the Reds in their history.
However, Henderson has performed in an impeccable fashion under Jurgen Klopp’s management. The English midfielder has led the Liverpool FC side with great tenacity. Over the last year, Henderson has lifted the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, and now the Premier League, as the captain of the Reds.
