As a result of spending most of his game time as a back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, the defender has been linked with a move ahead of the 2022 World Cup, with the England international hoping to secure a recall to Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.
Despite his lack of playing time this season, Gomez is still a part of Liverpool’s plans, according to Liverpool Echo, who claim Julian Ward has been charged with trying to sign the defender to a new contract this summer.
They recognize, however, that such a potential may be more difficult to achieve depending on how the defender views his own circumstances.
