Joe Gomez could be subject to a sizable £30 million bid from Aston Villa with the Liverpool central defender’s future beyond this summer’s transfer window up in the air.
The England international’s fall down the pecking order at Anfield has been well documented and there has been speculation that Gomez could be looking to make his way out the exit door before the next campaign kicks off.
Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa have long been considered the frontrunners for Gomez’s signature with the former Liverpool skipper, now in charge at Villa Park, keen to add to his options at the back in the summer.
According to a report from The Daily Star ( via TeamTalk), Villa could be in line to table a £30 million offer for the Reds defender who is aware that he may have to leave Anfield to fast-track his World Cup dream in the Three Lions squad.
Gomez would be hoping for a way back into Gareth Southgate’s plans for the World Cup set to be held in Qatar later this year with the 25-year-old centre-back turning out in just eight league outings last season.
