Liverpool FC U-23 star striker signs contract extension with the Reds

Liverpool FC U-23 player Joe Hardy has signed a contract extension with the Reds which would extend his stay at Anfield beyond the end of this month.

The 21-year old player had signed for the Merseyside club from Championship side Brentwood earlier this year during the January transfer window. The player was brought in to bolster the attacking options for the Reds U-23 squad which were severely depleted following the departure of the highly-rated youngster Rhian Brewster on loan to Swansea City.

Hardy was signed initially on a six-month basis with his contract running until the end of the 2019-20 season.

However, the player has pleased the U-23 management of the Reds, who have reached out to the representatives of the 21-year old for the purpose of extending his six months stay in the Liverpool FC colours.

Hardy has been phenomenal for the Liverpool FC U-23’s squad, with the Wirral-born striker having scored seven goals during the two months he had played before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic halted the football  season.

One of most exciting moments for the 21-year old Hardy was when he was given his senior Reds debut during the FA Cup fixture against Shrewsbury Town. The game held at Anfield was won by Liverpool FC, featured Hardy coming on as a substitute for the home side and getting his first action as a senior Reds player on the pitch.

Liverpool FC and Jurgen Klopp have emphasised on developing the youth players from the Reds academy in recent times.

Klopp has been praised for giving youngster ample opportunities on the pitch for the senior Reds squad, with the German coach fielding the likes of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot, and Neco Williams in many of his domestic cup fixtures as well as introducing them into the fold through appearances off-the-bench in the Premier League.

The 17-year old Elliot, who had just signed last summer from Fulham FC, was recently given a long term contract by Liverpool FC who wish to see the young winger develop at Anfield and rise through the ranks to become a formidable player.
