The Reds will need to move on from their last-minute heartbreak at the Amex, said skipper Jordan Henderson following the game that finished 1-1 for Jurgen Klopp’s men due to VAR intervention playing a major role in the proceedings.
Two of Liverpool FC’s goals were deemed offside on either side of the halves, and a stoppage-time penalty was awarded to Brighton following an Andy Robertson foul on Danny Welbeck as VAR continued to affect the Merseysider’s on-field fortunes this season.
But Henderson, while speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, asserted that his side will be required to adapt to the constant changes being brought about in the game by VAR, and instead look towards the forthcoming fixture list to bounce back from the disappointment of the latest stalemate.
“Very frustrating, especially the way it’s happened in the last couple of minutes. Hard to take.
“It feels unfair at this moment in time and very frustrating, but you’ve got to move on and get on with it. That’s the decision that was made, even though I don’t think it was the right decision by a long way. But it is what it is. We move on and we keep going.
“I don’t think it affects us. If anything, it makes us stronger as a team. When you are going through difficult periods – whether that would be performance, results, whatever it is, and at this moment in time it’s probably injuries – it makes the group even more together and more stronger.
“We just need to adapt and give everything for the games coming up and try to recover and get players back fit as soon as possible.”
A second-half strike from Diogo Jota seemed to have given Klopp’s side the final push at the Amex on Saturday afternoon, but stoppage-time drama prevented the Reds from securing all three points from their travels to the south coast of England.
