The 7-0 scoreline in Liverpool FC’s favour as the final whistle sounded out at Selhurst Park on Saturday was on the cards for a long time, according to Liverpool FC skipper Jordan Henderson.
Henderson’s performance in the weekend game in South London was hailed by many as the England international found the back of the net with a superb curling effort apart from delivering a solid shift in the midfield three for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
In an interview to Liverpoolfc.com after the game, the 30-year-old Henderson admitted that the Reds’ domination on the pitch paid off handsomely in the form of a flurry of goals despite a moment or two of sloppiness from the visitors early on in the opening 45 minutes.
“Yeah, I thought we were ruthless today. We took our chances which is always important, dominated the game for large periods. I still thought we could do [better], we were a little bit sloppy at times.”
“But overall I think we’ve got to say we’re delighted with the performance and the result because we know how difficult it is to come here. They are a good team, they make it difficult, so to finish this week off with a win after midweek is important and we managed to do that.”
“Yeah! It was coming, I felt, because over the last few games we’ve had some chances and haven’t taken them and it’s cost us at times. But today we managed to finish our chances, which is always important in football.”
Liverpool FC’s thumping victory at Crystal Palace was the Anfield outfit’s biggest top-flight away win, one which meant that last season’s league champions extend their lead to six points over second-placed Tottenham Hotspurs in the standings ahead of the latter playing hosts to Brendan Rodger’s Leicester City on Sunday.
