Jordan Henderson Injury Update [Hamstring Issue]

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that Liverpool feels “lucky” as club captain Jordan Henderson has only been ruled out for three weeks due to a hamstring injury.

The English midfielder sustained the problem during Liverpool’s Champions League last-16 first-leg defeat against Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid in the midweek clash.

But fortunately for the Premier League leaders, who are racing away to their first domestic title in 30 years as well as defending their European crown, Henderson is expected to return to action from the relatively mild issue in mid-March.

The 29-year-old midfielder is considered to be among one of the top contenders to be named as PFA Player of the Year, but Henderson appears set to miss the second leg of the clash against Atletico Madrid which is to take place at Anfield on March 11.

The Reds have a favorable number of league fixtures coming up against West Ham, on Monday, Watford, and Bournemouth, although they also play Frank Lampard’s Chelsea in the FA Cup and visit Merseyside rivals Everton immediately after the Atletico visit Liverpool and Henderson could well return for the crunch derby.

While speaking to reporters, 52-year-old Jurgen Klopp revealed that Henderson’s injury could have been a lot worse and confirmed that it was a hamstring issue for the English midfielder, “It could have been worse. We all know it was a hamstring thing, There are a lot of different hamstring injuries around in the Premier League – Harry Kane, for example, stuff like that. It’s not that bad.

Klopp further added that Liverpool will be without their captain for about three weeks, “He will be out for three weeks or so, which is not cool. But how we see it is that we’re lucky.”
