Jordan Henderson named Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Season

Liverpool FC skipper Jordan Henderson has received the Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Season on the back of a superb personal campaign for the midfielder and his contribution towards the Merseyside club securing the 2019-20 Premier League title.

The 30-year old enjoyed arguably his best season in the Liverpool FC shirt since his move to Anfield nine years ago. Henderson also captained Jurgen Klopp’s side to victories in the Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. His leadership skills for the Reds across this past title-winning league campaign was hailed by several figures in world football.

Featuring in 40 competitive fixtures for the Merseyside giants over the course of the 2019-20 season, Henderson proved to be a standout performer in the center of the park. The English international scored four goals and registered five assists as well. The 30-year old’s season was, however, cut short owing to a nasty knee injury suffered against Brighton in early July.

Henderson’s showings on the pitch were made even more exemplary due to his high-intensity pressing and tireless work-rate. His ability to open up gaps for the Liverpool FC front three with his acute passing range was an added bonus for Klopp’s men.
