Injury Update

Jordan Henderson ruled out for the remainder of the 2019-20 season

Jordan Henderson has been confirmed to miss the remainder of the 2019-20 season with the player having sustained an injury in the Reds’ latest encounter with Brighton. The Liverpool FC skipper will miss his side’s remaining four fixtures in the Premier League with a knee injury.

Henderson had been involved in a nasty collision with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma when the two sides met earlier this week. The 30-year old midfielder had limped off the pitch following the collision. Jurgen Klopp had earlier stated that further assessment needed to be made on Henderson’s injury, following which it will be known whether the player could appear in future games.

However, scans done on the Liverpool FC skipper’s injury have revealed the extent of the problem, and it does appear to be a serious injury as the thought of before. According to Klopp, Henderson would not require surgery at this point which is a good omen for the player returning to the Reds’ squad in a short period of time.

The absence of Jordan Henderson would be a major blow for the Reds. The English international is a permanent fixture in the Liverpool FC midfield. Henderson’s tremendous work rate, high-intensity pressing, and long-range of passing is a massive boost for the Merseyside club.

However, with the Premier League title already having been won by his side, Jurgen Klopp would not worry much over Henderson’s absence for the remainder of the season. Moreover, the Liverpool FC boss can call upon the likes of Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain to fill Henderson’s spot in midfield.

Klopp will be hoping that Henderson retuns in time for the start of next season despite his injury. The 2020-21 Premier League campaign will commence on 12th September, which gives ample time for Henderson’s recovery.

The Reds’ would not want to begin their title defence next season without Henderson amongst their ranks. The 30 year old’s leadership traits along with his playing ability have proven to of extreme importance to Liverpool FC in recent seasons.
