Injury Update

Jordan Henderson’s operation reported successful by Liverpool in official announcement

Liverpool FC have confirmed in an official statement that skipper Jordan Henderson has undergone a successful operation on his injured groin and initial reports indicate that the 30-year-old is sidelined until after the international break scheduled to be held next month.

Henderson was withdrawn from the Merseyside derby proceedings just before the half-hour mark last weekend after the England international was seen being unable to continue due to a groin issue.

Later reports had suggested that the former Sunderland man was in line to miss the next 12 weeks of action in the Liverpool FC colours, even putting the midfielder in doubt for the UEFA Euros to be held later this year.

However, recent clarification issued by the Merseyside Reds on its official website asserts that no timescale is put on Henderson’s return to the on-field action as the club’s medical staff monitor the player’s current situation.

The Reds skipper becomes the latest inductee to what is an ever-increasing injury list at Anfield amid a major slump in form witnessed by the recent showings put out by the Premier League holders in domestic football.
