Jurgen Klopp admitted a hamstring injury scare for Jordan Henderson with the Liverpool skipper forced off the pitch in the 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Henderson was withdrawn after 71 minutes with the England international picking up a hamstring issue, confirmed the Reds head coach Jurgen Klopp in his post-match remarks to the club’s official website.
“Obviously Hendo is injured, he got a hamstring [injury], which is absolutely not helpful. I don’t think so.”
[It was] that serious that he couldn’t carry on, so it was no tactical change.”
When quizzed about his plans to dip into the transfer market before the deadline on Thursday, Klopp remained coy on whether he was looking to bring in a new signing to bolster his midfield options.
“I don’t think so, but as long as there is time we should not close the door completely.”
The likes of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz and Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer have been linked with a move to the Liverpool of late amid speculation that Klopp was on the hunt for a late-window signing.
Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been the concerns on the injury front for Liverpool early on this new season.
