Jurgen Klopp admits mistakes from his team at Old Trafford after FA Cup exit for Liverpool

Liverpool FC gaffer Jurgen Klopp admitted that his team’s error-prone showing for solely responsible for their crashing out of the FA Cup following the 3-2 loss to arch-rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Klopp’s men had taken the lead through Mohammad Salah’s superb dinked effort but were pegged back through goals from the hosts on either side of the half and the German accepted that moments of frailty in the Liverpool FC backline allowed the Red Devils to find the back of the net.

“For the first goal we had no protection, we wanted it too much,” said Klopp in his post-match comments.

“Things like this should not happen. We had too many players in a receiving position.

“There were some mistakes around the goals. If you want to win here you have to be absolutely top and we were not.

“It’s not what we wanted so it’s frustrating. We scored twice and that’s all okay, but they scored three.”

Loss in the weekend meeting at Old Trafford meant that the Merseysiders were subject to their second loss in a row after last week’s shock top-flight defeat to Burnley.

Just a sole victory in the last seven outings across all competitions for Klopp’s outfit has put the pressure on the Premier League holders to bounce back from a massive slump in form as the title-race in England heats up midway through the top-flight campaign.
