Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has advised English midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain to remain patient as he continues his return from a long term injury that kept him on the sidelines for over a year.
It was heartbreak for Oxlade Chamberlain last year in April when he was stretchered off the field in a Champions League game against AS Roma as the combative midfielder was displaying the form of his life just before his knee injury in April 2018.
The 26-year-old joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017 from Arsenal in a €40 million deal but his life began slowly until finally settling in towards the latter part of his debut season with Liverpool. Unfortunately, Chamberlain wasn’t able to play a major part in Liverpool’s success in the Champions League this summer as his injury halted his career. But the England international has started the last two Liverpool games for Klopp and is slowly looking to get back to his best.
While speaking to reporters, Klopp stated that he wants Chamberlain to be a little bit more patient and calmer before he reaches back to his 100 percent, “He needs to be patient in the right way, and also everything will be fine 100 percent. We only talk about Ox because everybody knows how good he is, but we need to make sure that he can show that on the pitch as well. That is my decision, and when I make the decision that he is now ready then it is my responsibility of course as well and the boy only has to try to do his best”
It will be interesting to see whether Chamberlain will be starting for Liverpool in the third game in a row as the Reds face Arsenal on 24th August at Anfield.
