Jurgen Klopp confirms Alex Oxalde Chamberlain’s knee injury

In a massive blow to Liverpool FC ahead of the upcoming Premier League season that gets underway on 12th September, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has suffered a knock to his knee. The injury to the midfielder means that Chamberlain will miss out on the Reds’ remaining pre-season training programme.

According to recent reports, the 26-year old sustained the injury during a routine session at the club’s Austria-based training camp. Chamberlain will now head back to Liverpool FC’s Melwood facility to link up with the club’s medical team.

The Reds boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed the extent of an injury in an interview to the club’s website. The German admitted that Chamberlain’s injury was quite similar to what the skipper of the Anfield giants, Jordan Henderson, had sustained last season.

Klopp also added that the midfielder is certain to miss Liverpool FC’s FA Community Shield match against Arsenal that is scheduled to be held on 29th August. Speculation indicates that the ex-Gunners man will be sidelined from action for up to six to eight weeks.

“It looks like it is very similar to what Hendo had, which keeps him out for we don’t know for sure exactly how long, but for sure this pre-season he will not make a game, Arsenal for sure not and then we will see. The next game is probably two weeks later, but I don’t know.

“We have to wait but it is far away from being perfect, of course. It is really hard for him and hard for us, but it is not to change.”
