James Milner sustained a hamstring injury during Liverpool FC’s clash against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, confirmed Jurgen Klopp.
The 35-year-old midfielder had to be withdrawn from the action at the King Power Stadium after he was unable to continue beyond the first 15 minutes of play as Thiago Alcantara took his spot in the centre of the park.
Jurgen Klopp’s side eventually lost the match 3-1, a third defeat on the trot for the Merseysiders and the boss spoke to the club’s official website in the aftermath of the match, confirming that Milner had to be taken off the field after a hamstring issue.
“Hamstring, I think. That’s what he said. He felt only a little bit but he didn’t want to take the risk, we didn’t want to take the risk, so we took him off.
“We’ll see how it develops, but yeah, hamstring.”
Milner’s setback on the injury front means that the former Manchester City man remains highly doubtful to play in the forthcoming UEFA Champions League tie against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night in Hungary.
