Jurgen Klopp fumes at Choudhary challenge on Salah

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was left fuming after a challenge by Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury left Mo Salah with an ankle injury.

Salah was in full flow when Choudhury brought him down and was given a yellow card but Klopp clearly felt it should have been red and called on the 22-year-old to calm his game down.

‘It was a challenge which I don’t understand,’ said the Liverpool manager. ‘I don’t understand how he can do it because the ball is far away. If you bring down a player in full sprint, when the ball is not around, it is for me only one color. It’s dangerous as hell.

‘I don’t want to cause the boy any problems but he has to calm down. He is a super player, super development in the last two years. But these kinds of challenges? No.

‘If you are quick someone needs to make sure that not everything is allowed to bring you down. The ball is not even close.’

Salah’s injury was the only negative in what was a brilliant win for Liverpool with James Milner scoring a stoppage-time penalty after Sadio Mane brought down by Marc Albrighton.

The extent of Salah’s injury is still not known but the initial signs are that he did not suffer serious damage and he will be fit for Liverpool’s next game although he will miss the upcoming international fixtures with Egypt.

Liverpool has a tough run of fixtures after the international break with a trip to Old Trafford to take on old rivals Manchester United and then face Spurs who are facing a crisis at the moment.
