Injury Update

Jurgen Klopp gives a new injury update on Jordan Henderson

Jordan Henderson could be set to play a role in Liverpool FC’s upcoming Premier League clash with Aston Villa, said Jurgen Klopp in his pre-match interview to the club’s official website, Liverpoolfc.com.

Henderson’s fitness levels will continue to be monitored accordingly ahead of the visit to Villa Park on Sunday, Klopp confirmed, while admitting that the Liverpool FC skipper will take part in certain training sessions along with the rest of his teammates.

“Hendo will be part of parts of the training today. He will start with warming up, maybe some passing, maybe some rondos, we will see as a first step.

“He has absolutely no muscle issues. It is all fine, he is not injured anymore, so now we have to make sure he can make the next step. What that means for the weekend, I don’t know.

“He is now working on his physical things for a few days already, but now more football specific, which is important with us and then with the national team. He will have minutes for England, I think, which is then a proper win/win situation and I am really happy about that.”

The 30-year old midfielder has been missing from action on the pitch since reportedly pulling up a thigh knock in the 2-0 win at Chelsea nearly a fortnight ago. Henderson had to be taken off the pitch that day, with Thiago Alcantara replacing the English international at the end of the first half.

Thiago, however, will be in absence for the game against Dean Smith’s Villa side after it had come to notice that the new Liverpool FC signing had tested positive for COVID-19 and will be in self-isolation for a period upto ten days.
