Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has asserted that his Liverpool players will take the midweek outing against FC Porto very seriously despite already through to the Last-16 of the Champions League.
The Reds have won four out of four games in the group stage this campaign and have booked a spot in the knockout stages of the competition despite two games still left to play for.
Klopp’s men play hosts to Portuguese giants FC Porto on Wednesday night at Anfield and the Liverpool boss insists his players will step out on the pitch with the hopes of claiming the win from the home fixture going by the German’s pre-match remarks.
“It’s not difficult, the difference is when you sign a contract for LFC (Liverpool Football Club) as a manager and as a player you have to win all games, each game you play everyone expects that.
“So that means there is a lot of pressure on your shoulders, that’s a little difference that we don’t have to win the game tomorrow but we want to win the game.
“That’s how it looks and I really hope it gives us the freedom to play but keeps the desire to defend.
“In our Champions League history since I’ve been here we usually fight until the last second of the last game of the group stage to get somehow through this year it’s different but that’s the only difference.
“Actually it’s not in my mind really but I know the difference, it’s just we will try to win the football game tomorrow night.”
Jordan Henderson and Co. will head into the upcoming contest against Porto on the back of a 4-0 win over Arsenal in league football over the weekend which marked a return to winning ways for the Anfield camp.
Jurgen Klopp could be in line to tinker around with his team sheet come Wednesday with a number of youth players in the Liverpool ranks hoping for a chance to feature on the big stage.
