Jurgen Klopp rubbished social media speculation hinting that he was close to the exit door at Anfield in light of the recent run of poor results recorded by his Liverpool FC outfit.
The Merseysiders have endured a terrible run of form of late in top-flight football and Saturday’s defeat to Leicester City meant the sixth loss in their last eight outings, leaving them with no hopes of retaining their top-flight champion credentials as Manchester City build up further momentum at the summit.
Speaking to reporters in the pre-game interview ahead of the UEFA Champions League Last-16 game against RB Leipzig, Klopp firmly refuted claims suggesting he was considering stepping down from the top job at the club, with the German adding that he was not seeking a break from football.
“Did I get the sack or did I leave by myself?” joked the Liverpool FC boss.
“I don’t need a break.
“Privately, we had a tough time, that was a much longer time already and we always deal with it as a family 100%.”
Liverpool FC’s next outing in league action would be against city rivals Everton as the Merseyside Reds face a battle to secure a top-four finish come to the end of the Premier League season.
