Injury Update

Jurgen Klopp provides an update on Luis Diaz’s latest injury setback

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the latest injury setback suffered by Luis Diaz during Sunday’s Premier League defeat against Arsenal.

The winger needed to be replaced by Roberto Firmino against the Gunners shortly before halftime after tussling for the ball with Thomas Partey. Jurgen Klopp was upset at the decision to give Arsenal a game-winning penalty in the second half as Liverpool went on to lose 3-2.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who had to be replaced before halftime due to an ankle injury, and Diaz’s further knee issues have raised more concerns for the German manager.

Klopp gave an update on the severity of the injuries faced by Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz ahead of a busy run of games for Liverpool. As reported by the Mirror, He said:

“He is injured, unfortunately. Like Luis Diaz as well, it doesn’t look good for both. That is the icing on the cake…”

The 25-year-old Columbian winger was later seen leaving the Emirates Stadium on crutches and with his knee braced; it appeared that he would be sidelined for some time. Behind the scenes, there are worries that the winger could spend months on the sidelines.

Diaz is regarded as Colombia’s important player for the upcoming World Cup, which begins on November 20, even though Liverpool is only scheduled to play matches for the following five weeks.

Diaz’s injury is expected to be scanned on Monday or Tuesday, and both Klopp and Nestor Lorenzo, the manager of the national team, are awaiting results.

With four goals and two assists in all competitions, Diaz has been one of Klopp’s most important players despite Liverpool’s inconsistent play in the Premier League and Champions League.

These contributions were spread out throughout five of his ten total appearances, the most recent of which was on Sunday when he assisted Darwin Nunez’s equaliser.  Prior to the World Cup, Liverpool still has 10 games left, including a match against Manchester City on Sunday.
