Injury Update

Jurgen Klopp provides fresh injury updates ahead of Brighton clash

Four members of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team will be absent when Brighton visit Anfield this weekend, but other than that, the Reds’ injury problems are getting better.

Liverpool’s first Premier League encounter in four weeks will be against the Seagulls after the Queen’s passing caused home games against Wolves and away matches against Chelsea to be postponed.

The German manager provided a key update on his players as they prepare themselves to face a busy Premier League schedule. While speaking to the club’s official website, Klopp said:

“Some are still out doing rehab – that’s Robbo, that’s Curtis, that’s Ox, that’s Naby if I’m 100 per cent [right]. Definitely these four.”

“[Nunez, Diaz and Jota], they came back from international [duty]. Calvin is not ready to play but is over the moon that he can train now. That’s fine, it’s really good. Caoimh, I think will play this weekend [for the] U21s, that he can have a game.

“And Ibou needs training as well. Yes, back. For the weekend, [it] depends on training today but he’s back and that’s good.”

Prior to heading into the recent break, the likes of Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had been on the sidelines with injuries as they remain unavailable for selection ahead of Brighton’s visit under new boss De Zerbi.

Robertson sat out his country’s Nations League outing with a knee injury, but Jurgen Klopp is optimistic over his player’s early return.

Other than that, the Reds team’s injury problems have improved, and Klopp expressed worries that attackers Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz wouldn’t be ready for the weekend due to international commitments.

Following his return to training, centre-back Ibrahima Konate may be included in the squad to face Brighton. Scottish teenager Calvin Ramsay has also resumed training, and backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to play this weekend for the under-21 team.

In one of the busiest stretches of the season, Klopp’s team will play 13 games in 42 days. After a shaky start to the year, the manager would aware that his team has a lot of ground to make up.
