Jurgen Klopp provided hope for Roberto Firmino’s return to the Liverpool fold ahead of the high-billed Merseyside derby this Sunday at Anfield.
Firmino was sidelined for the 4-0 win over Manchester United earlier in the week with the Brazilian deemed an injury concern in the build-up to the contest between the two rival clubs.
In his pre-match presser ahead of Liverpool playing hosts to city foes Everton over the weekend, Jurgen Klopp sounded out hope that Firmino could be in line to make his way back into the Liverpool squad for the upcoming fixture.
“No other problems but Bobby is getting better and better. It’s uncomfortable and painful so we have to make sure he is there today on the pitch. There are still two days to go, so maybe he can be involved.”
Firmino’s absence last time around coupled with concern over Jota’s ankle niggle had allowed new boy Luis Diaz to join Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in the attacking lineup for Liverpool.
Diaz had opened the scoring for the Merseysiders with Mane joining in on the fun and the club’s leading goalscorer Salah netting a brace to cement the three points on home turf against United.
