Jurgen Klopp remained coy over his star duo Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson being in the mix to make the team sheet on Wednesday night for Liverpool in the Champions League.
The Merseyside bigwigs play hosts to Liga NOS outfit FC Porto in the penultimate group stage fixture for a Liverpool side that has already booked its spot in the Last-16 of the competition.
Robertson and Henderson had both been concerns on the injury front over the weekend in the home win over Arsenal but Henderson had come off the bench in the dying embers of the league outing.
Kostas Tsimikas had provided cover for Robertson, however, in the left-back role and the former put out a terrific showing which could convince Klopp in retaining the Greek international until Robertson finds his way back to full fitness.
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, Klopp said that Robertson and Henderson will be subject to further assessment in the build-up to the midweek outing as the duo work on their recovery.
“We always respect the competition but we have to think about ourselves, our schedule and the situation of our players first.Â
“Hendo, we will see. Yesterday, I would say maybe he was not at 100 per cent. So he can play, he can do pretty much everything but it’s about really being at 100 per cent fit.Â
“So I thought when he came on against Arsenal it was just to see the game out and controlling a little bit – that was exactly actually what he had to do from the rehab point of view, so he used these few minutes. But now we have to see. I don’t know 100 per cent.Â
“Robbo, similar. Both are OK, but are both now ready to play, ready to start with the schedule, with games coming up? We have to make these decisions.
“We didn’t make these decisions yet, to be honest, because, how we all know, in this time of the season the medical department has a big hand in line-ups. So we will see.”
