Injury Update

Jurgen Klopp provides major boost on Diogo Jota’s foot injury

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has eased the increasing fears over Diogo Jota missing this summer’s UEFA Euros with a recently sustained foot injury by confirming that the Portuguese attacker could feature for the Reds in the final match of their domestic season.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Merseysiders’ visit to Turf Moor, Klopp said that Jota’s injury did not look as severe as projected earlier and that the 24-year-old was clear to play the Euros with Portugal in the upcoming summer.

Klopp reckons Jota’s availability for the weekend clash at Anfield

With Liverpool playing Crystal Palace in their final match of the Premier League season this coming weekend at Anfield, the Merseysiders could welcome back Jota to the fold after his recent sidelining due to injury which forced him to miss the win over West Brom.

Klopp confirmed the same, saying that the former Wolves man had a chance of making the cut for the team selection with the CT scans on his injury proving much better than what was expected previously.

“Diogo, when the swelling went down, we did another picture and it looked better than in the first place with the first scan. With the CT [scan] you could see it better.

“So, there is a tiny, tiny little chance for him for the weekend, but it depends how it improves now. We have to see that.

“It is obviously good news for Portugal and for Diogo himself, with the Euros not in danger at all. That’s good, but if it’s good enough for us, we will see.”

Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain deemed fit for Burnley fixture

Chamberlain has been missing from the matchday squad for Liverpool over the past two outings and the England international is tipped to be back for the Reds’ trip to Burnley in the midweek fixture by Klopp.

The Liverpool boss, however, has ruled out Naby Keita with the ex-RB Leipzig midfielder yet to return to team training.

“Millie will train today but is that then enough for being involved tomorrow? I will see.

“Ox was ill, [so] yes, Ox is back. Naby wasn’t part of team training yet so that will not be enough until tomorrow for sure. Ox was in team training so he is back.”
