Jurgen Klopp provided a major update on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury with the Liverpool boss hinting that the full-back could be set for a return soon from his hamstring niggle.
The England international had picked up a knock ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup contest against Nottingham Forest before heading into the international break and there had been concern over Arnold’s fitness levels at Anfield.
Klopp, however, sounded out a hint in his recent presser that the 22-year-old was working his way to recovery in time for next week’s crunch Premier League showdown at the Etihad against the league leaders Manchester City.
“Trent trained yesterday for parts and will be in full training today and we have to see what we do about it.
“I know, and I’ve heard, of how it is in this country. Trent wanted to go to the national team. I just wanted to make sure that everybody [understood].
“He couldn’t. If you saw the scans with his pictures, you cannot go anywhere but sometimes injuries – thank god – are not that serious that you are out for five-six weeks. Sometimes it’s two weeks and that’s the case with Trent.”
The Reds would be glad to have Arnold back in the camp with Jurgen Klopp’s men gearing up for the business end of the campaign as only a point separates them from Manchester City at the summit.
Jordan Henderson and Co, on the back of their 2-0 home win over Watford on Saturday, will next lock horns with Portuguese outfit Benfica in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
