Jurgen Klopp refuses to comment further on Mohamed Salah’s contract talks

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp refused to comment further on Mohamed Salah’s contract talks ahead of the Benfica tie midweek in the Champions League.

The Merseyside giants make the trip to Portugal on Tuesday night for the first leg quarter-final contest against Benfica just days after securing a 2-0 win over Watford in league action at Anfield

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s talisman and leading goalscorer this season, has his future hanging in the balance with the Egyptian and his camp holding out for a bumper pay rise to renew terms with the Premier League heavyweights.

Recent developments on the contract front, however, have suggested that the 29-year-old Salah could be inching closer to penning a new long-term deal with the winger likely to compromise on his earlier demands put forward to the Liverpool board.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League outing against Benfica, Jurgen Klopp chose to remain coy over the ongoing talks with Salah with the gaffer claiming there was nothing new to add with the negotiations underway.

“I’m happy with it because there’s nothing new to say – that’s good. The decisive parties are talking to each other and that’s all I need.”
