Liverpool will welcome their league rivals Tottenham Hotspurs at Anfield at the weekend and the Reds manager has provided an update regarding his player’s availability.
The Brazilian striker was spotted in the AXA training ground on Thursday, however, the German coach desires to keep the forward out for Saturday’s fixture.
Firmino has missed a bunch of games since his foot injury kept him out for an important period for Liverpool in the league run.
The 30-year-old hasn’t played for the Reds since a late substitute appearance in the FA Cup semi-final triumph over Man City last month due to a foot ailment.
The former Hoffenheim striker has brought a lot to the Liverpool side in the past and has been an influential player in the scouser’s attacking third.
Firmino has a great record against Spurs, scoring 5 times in the last 6 six encounters versus the North London but the German manager is reluctant to take any kind of risk.
“Now we have to make sure he has a few proper sessions. Obviously we have enough games still. It’s very important we have to make sure we get him in the best possible shape.
“I didn’t make a decision but it might be possible that for him it makes more sense to train through the weekend and be a big step closer for Tuesday but let’s see. Yesterday in training he was great.”

The South American is currently going through a rough patch in his career at the Merseyside, having netted the ball only 11 times in his 31 games in the 2021-22 campaign.
His game time under Klopp has been reduced significantly due to the competition for places which has been elevated by the January recruit Luiz Diaz, who is firing under the German regime.
But putting things into perspective, the 54-year-old manager will have to keep his team fresh in order to keep his squad fitness sharp for the upcoming Fa Cup and European finals.
