According to reports, Jurgen Klopp has sanctioned the sale of Liverpool FC duo Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson in this summers’ transfer window. Both players had spent the 2019-20 season on loan away from Anfield at Hertha Berlin and AFC Bournemouth respectively.
Klopp’s decision to sell both ex-Liverpool FC loanees comes on the back of the Premier League champions’ pursuit of Thiago Alcantara in the transfer market. The Spanish international is understood to be the Reds’ prime target this summer.
However, Bayern Munich are insistent on sticking to their £30 million price-tag for the 29-year old Thiago. The midfielder too is believed to be eager on signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead of next season.
While Grujic had joined his Reds’ teammates at the Anfield outfit’s pre-season training base in Austria, Wilson’s absence was noted. It had been later revealed that the Welsh international was currently nursing an existing injury.
Reports suggest that the Reds are looking to raise as much as a combined £40 million from the sales of Grujic and Wilson. The funds obtained would be used by Klopp to finance Thiago’s signing.
While Wilson is being eyed for a move by Leeds United, Grujic is reportedly wanted by Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin. The Serbian international has spent the last two seasons on loan at the German club.
