Jurgen Klopp similar to King Kenny Dalglish

Former Reds midfielder Charlie Adam has claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is quite similar to club legend Kenny Dalglish (one of the all-time Liverpool XI) when it comes to building a rapport with his squad players.

Jurgen Klopp’s unit was on the brink of being crowned Premier League champions which would have been their first top-flight title in 3 decades until the season was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak in the UK. Liverpool lost just once in the domestic campaign to turn a potential title race into a procession after 29 games in the top division.

The German head coach has overseen a huge improvement in the team’s fortunes since taking charge in October 2015 replacing Brendan Rodgers, sealing the first trophy of his reign last June with 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam is hugely impressed by both the passion and the professionalism displayed by the 52-year-old, seeing a comparison to his experiences under former Reds boss Kenny Daglish, who was in charge of the club when the midfielder signed for the Merseyside giants.

While speaking to reporters, the Scotland international explained the similar traits between Klopp and Dalglish as they had a good connection with the players at the club, even though he hasn’t been in contact with the current Liverpool chief, “Both seem to be very well-liked, very open to the players, they seem to embrace the players a lot, I don’t know Jurgen to work with, but what I see from the outside is he’s an incredibly passionate man and his work ethic is amazing. The people I speak to at the club say he’s there early in the morning, gets his work done and he goes home and he just keeps it simple. He’s got great players but you have to organise them and set a standard and a discipline of how to play and he seems to have done that and he’s getting results from it. Somebody that embraces you, shows you passion and a bit of love is what every player wants and he’s phenomenal.”

Adam joined Liverpool in the summer of 2011 after impressing during Blackpool’s solitary season in the Premier League, with Dalglish doing all he could to help his fellow Scotsman settle in at Anfield. Their season together included winning the League Cup, though finishing in eighth place in the table led to the end of Dalglish’s second spell in charge of the English giants.
